Celta Vigo Tipped to End Victor Camarasa's Miserable Crystal Palace Loan Spell

Celta Vigo are in line to make a January swoop for Victor Camarasa, who has failed to make any semblance of an impact at Crystal Palace having joined on a season-long loan in the summer.

The Spaniard played a starring role for Cardiff City in the Premier League the season prior, although he was unable to prevent the Bluebirds from slipping into the second tier.

His performances were enough to earn him another crack of the Premier League whip though, as Palace brought him to Selhurst Park on loan for the 2019/20 season from parent club Real Betis.

He has failed to hit the heights of his previous spell in the top-flight, however; making just a single five-minute league appearance to date and often left out entirely from Roy Hodgson's matchday squads. His miserable stint in south London may be cut short of a full season if Seville-based news outlet Estadio Deportivo are to be believed, as they state Celta Vigo will pounce on his availability if his loan spell ends this month.

Given the way things have gone for Camarasa, that looks likely. There was an initial clause put into his Palace contract that stated if he played more than 15 Premier League games for the Eagles then a mandatory buy option would be triggered - which will cost in the region of £13m.

Estadio Deportivo's claims are backed by Atlantico, although the other outlet add that Camarasa is seen as the ideal replacement for Stanislav Lobotka, who is attracting the interest of West Ham this window.

The Eagles have surpassed expectations this season, finding themselves ninth in the Premier League table after some impressive outings under Hodgson, who has been unwilling to call on his summer signing. Jordan Ayew, Gary Cahill and James McCarthy were the other notable incomings over the summer, but Camarasa has been unable to dislodge any of his fellow midfielders in the side.
