Charlton v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 27 October 2004 By Nik Taylor

Palace take on Charlton at the Valley tonight with Iain Dowie expected to field a much-changed team from Saturday’s win over West Brom.

Key players Andy Johnson, Fitz Hall and Michael Hughes have apparently all picked up knocks and are likely to sit out the sold-out Carling Cup clash.

And Dowie could tinker with the team still further as he uses the match to assess the players on the fringe of the first-team. Danny Butterfield may earn a recall after coming through several reserve team matches recently.

Charlton are also likely to play a weakened side, with defenders Radostin Kishishev and Mark Fish both out. Striker Francis Jeffers will make a return to the side after injury.

There are no tickets left for the Palace end for tonight’s game.

Probable Palace XI:

Speroni
Butterfield Hudson Popovic Granville
Lakis Riihilahti Watson Kolkka
Kaviedes Freedman
