Crystal Palace Preparing Move for Bournemouth Winger Jordon Ibe

Crystal Palace are preparing to launch a surprise deadline day move for Bournemouth's Jordon Ibe after seemingly failing in their pursuit of Hull's Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen was supposedly the number one priority for the Eagles, but the forward looks more likely to end up at West Ham should a deal be completed in January.

As a result, Palace's last resort is out-of-favour winger Ibe, who has barely featured for the Cherries this season - appearing in just four matches in all competitions.

According to The Sun, Roy Hodgson has been keen to bolster his attacking line during the winter window, and with time running out, he has turned to potential rather than proven pedigree.

Eddie Howe has lost patience with the former Liverpool man, who has failed to make a significant impact on the south coast since his arrival from Anfield in 2016.

The 24-year-old has made 92 appearances for the Cherries since his arrival, but just two Premier League substitute appearances this season - the last of which came in late August - suggests that Ibe is now deemed surplus to requirements at the Vitality Stadium.

Crystal Palace have already improved their attacking ranks with the loan signing of Everton's Cenk Tosun, but the Turkish forward has since picked up a short-term injury, leaving the south London club light on their feet up front.

Ibe is traditionally a winger, and Hodgson clearly has faith in his ability to get a tune out of the young Englishman, despite the Bournemouth wide man not being the Eagles' first choice.

Palace are still trying to tie the knot on a number of late deals, with West Bromwich Albion's Nathan Ferguson also a target at Selhurst Park, however that deal is proving increasingly difficult to push through.

They were also linked with a move for Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, but he's rejoined Atletico Madrid on loan.
