Keeper signing imminent

Palace are set to make another signing, with manager Iain Dowie revealing a new keeper could be at Selhurst before Saturday.

Current No. 1 Cedric Berthelin impressed many at the weekend with an assured performance against Gillingham that included a spectacular penalty save.

But Dowie is still on the hunt for another goalie to put the pressure on Berthelin for the first-team spot.

"We need another goalkeeper, and that is something I’m hoping to resolve this week," Dowie said. "I don’t like not having a keeper on the bench, and that’s no disprespect to Lance Cronin. He just needs time to develop."

And the manager was quick to heap praise on Berthelin for his clean sheet last Saturday. "Cedric has had a bit of belief put into him. I haven’t rushed out and tried to snap up a goalkeeper. I’m delighted for him," Dowie told the official Palace site.
