Leicester 0-0 Crystal Palace: Wasteful Foxes fail to make chances pay

Leicester failed to secure a much-needed three points on Saturday afternoon as they were held to a 0-0 draw by fellow strugglers Crystal Palace.

It was a confident start from Palace against a Leicester side who had lost centre-back Jonny Evans to injury, but the Foxes nearly opened the scoring 17 minutes in with the game's first shot on target.

Harvey Barnes linked up nicely with Patson Daka to force his way into the box but his strike was well saved by the onrushing Vicente Guaita, who was called upon again soon after to keep out a shot from the Zambian.

Marc Guehi and Ebere Eze both had decent opportunities to poke Palace ahead but Patrick Vieira's side ended up finishing the first half without a shot on target.

It was Leicester who came out hottest in the second half and James Maddison spurned an excellent chance to open the scoring just minutes after the break, skying his effort from 12 yards when he really should have done better.

Barnes continued to cause problems but Guaita rose to each, while Maddison once again failed to hit the target when presented with an excellent opportunity in front of the watching Gareth Southgate.

The Palace stopper was undoubtedly the star of the show as he repelled further advances from Maddison, setting up a nervy finale to the game as Palace threated to re-establish some control over proceedings.

That never happened however, and while every point is a crucial one for Leicester, Rodgers will undoubtedly see this as a missed opportunity to ease the pressure.
