Luton v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 25 November 2005 By Nik Taylor

Palace travel to Kenilworth Road tomorrow looking to avenge the shock 2-1 defeat inflicted on them by Luton on the opening day of the season.

The Hatters went on a storming run after that explosive result, but have lost their way a little in recent weeks. However, a 4-1 home win against Crewe during midweek will have boosted their confidence once more.

Palace are still without the services of Andrew Johnson – though the top striker is back in training and should return to the starting line-up soon.

Wayne Andrews’ impressive performance against Coventry during the week gives Iain Dowie a welcome selection headache, and he could get another run out on the wing as Marco Reich is still out with an abdominal injury.

However, Michael Hughes is also pushing for a recall after being rested for the home win over the Sky Blues.

Tony Popovic could also get himself back in the side now he had fully recovered from a calf injury, although he’s more likely to make an appearance from the bench.

Luton are weakened by the loss of their captain Kevin Nicholls as well as defender Russell Perrett, both of whom were sent off in the Hatters 2-0 defeat at Norwich last weekend.

Mike Newll’s star striker, Steve Howard, is hoping to recover sufficiently from flu to start the match, and will take Warren Feeney’s place if he makes it.

Probable Palace XI:

Kiraly
Boyce Ward Hall Borrowdale
McAnuff Soares Watson Andrews
Morrison Freedman
