The transfer of Hugarian striker Sandor Torghelle has finally been completed by Palace.

The 22-year-old has joined the Eagles from MTK Hungaria for an as-yet-undisclosed fee. He will likely make his red-and-blue debut against Sampdoria in this Saturday’s friendly at Selhurst Park, subject to international clearance.

Torghelle will compete with Neil Shipperley for the target-man spot alongside Andy Johnson. And with Shipps out for the first five weeks of the campaign, Torghelle will be confident of making the starting place his own.

Torghelle has earned seven caps for his country, scoring three goals including both in Hungary’s 2-0 win over Germany in June.
