West Brom's Nathan Ferguson 'Expected' to Join Crystal Palace This Summer

West Bromwich Albion starlet Nathan Ferguson looks set to leave the Championship club, and he is 'expected' to join Premier League side Crystal Palace on a free transfer in the summer.

The 19-year-old's contract expires at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, and he seemingly has no intention of signing a new deal at the Hawthorns.

A knee problem prevented Nathan Ferguson from moving in January

And this impasse has opened the door for Premier League side Crystal Palace, where, according to The Athletic, the defender is 'expected to start next season', after nearly joining the Eagles in the January transfer window.

Palace had agreed an £11m move for Ferguson in the winter, but concerns were raised over a possible knee problem, and the deal failed to materialise. In fact, the English defender subsequently underwent surgery on his knee, which will keep him out of action until the late summer.

The Baggies youngster has made 21 appearances for the Championship outfit this season, even chipping in with one goal and one assist for the promotion hopefuls. He is extremely highly rated as a future star of the game, and he has even been recognised at international level, appearing twice for the England Under-20s side.

And it seems whether West Brom are able to reach the promised land of the Premier League this year or not, Ferguson will be plying his trade there regardless.

The centre-back had previously discussed a possible future away from West Brom with students from the University of Warwick, telling them that he hopes to 'get the chance to play in the Premier League,' as reported by The Express & Star.

“As an English player, any English player’s dream is to play in the Premier League,” he said.

“That is what they wish for. So to hopefully get the chance to play in the Premier League, it’s surreal that is for sure.”
