Wilfried Zaha Set to Stay at Crystal Palace Until the Summer

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is likely to stay with the club until the end of the season, with both Chelsea and Tottenham unwilling to match the £80m valuation for the player.

The 27-year-old was keen to leave the Eagles during the January transfer window, but Crystal Palace fans will be delighted to know that Zaha is expected to stay at Selhurst Park until the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Ivory Coast international has accepted that no club will be willing to offer the fee currently set by the south London side – and will wait until at least the next window to urge a big move.

Chelsea were firm favourites to sign the winger this month, but have instead prioritised the signing of a back-up striker, with the club currently unable to accept Crystal Palace’s valuation for a wide player.

Frank Lampard is yet to make any recruitments this window despite being linked with multiple strikers, with the latest being PSG’s Edinson Cavani.

Meanwhile, Spurs have already completed a loan deal for midfielder Gedson Fernandes from Benfica, and are unlikely to pay a hefty fee for a new winger.

With Harry Kane also out injured, Jose Mourinho could potentially look for a short-term replacement for the England captain.

Last summer, Zaha was refused a move to fellow Premier League side Everton, despite handing in a transfer request to leave his current side.

Despite the forward’s desires to leave club, he is still held in high regard by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson, and has three-and-a-half years left on his contract.

He was also heavily involved in Fernandinho’s late own goal for Manchester City at the weekend, resulting in a 2-2 draw for Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are set to face Southampton in their next league fixture on Tuesday night, with the Saints currently in superb form.
